That is a good deal actually,
Fender Mustangs are usually a rip-off because they like to sell mostly vintage ones from the 60s.
Thats a good guitar for the stuff you like, but if it were me, I’d get a nice distorion pedal, because they’re not exactly right for hard rock/punk (crappy pickups.. you see.)
For AC/DC or Pearl Jam… or Nirvana, you need something like a “fat strat”

I would go with the guitar because ive seen better deals for fenders.

Fenders and Les Pauls are really good for a lot of classic rock (like some of the bands you mentioned). You might just want to get a good Epiphone for around $400. I have a Gibson and my friend has an Epiphone, and they sound almost exactly the same on my Spider amp. Fenders are still good guitars, though. I just think they look too boring. I might also suggest finding a used Fender American for a good price (and in good condition of course). Fender Americans are the best Fenders in my opinion. Go to guitarcenter.com and you’ll probably find a good deal there. Also read the reviews. If some say getting a Fender Mustang for $600 dollars was a bad deal, then don’t get it. Maybe try an Epiphone or something? It’s your choice, whatever you prefer. Good luck!

I am not very familiar with the Fender Mustang, but I did check out the reviews on Ultimate-Guitar. I included it in my sources.
The review seemed pretty good, but since I know you like playing Nirvana, I thought this quote might be of importance to you:
” I am a very big fan of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana but do not get this guitar if you are trying to sound like Kurt or want that sort of sound. Kurt Customized the hell out of his Mustang and made it more like a Les Paul than a Fender. If you insist on a Fender to sound like a Nirvana but you don’t want to put a ton of money into switching the guitar up, buy a Jaguar HH, you will seem a lot less like a Kurt wannabe.”
So it might not give you the sound you are looking for, grunge wise. Best way to find out would be to try it.
If I was in your shoes, I would most likely buy a new Roland Microcube amp and use the remaining for a new guitar. But you really have to make your best judgement, and do what works for you.
Remember, the most important thing is to go out and play the guitars, so you know what feels good to you. Pick the one that gives you the sound you want, the feel you want, and the look you want.
Good luck
